With the ever increasing number of dogs coming into our care we are in need of more Foster Homes to help us find forever homes for them. So this is something of a 'call to paws', if you think you could help or know of someone that could please read on.

I must have written this announcement a hundred times over in my head, but finding the right words has been difficult and so it is with great sadness that I must inform you all of the passing of George.

It is with extreme regret that we need to inform you that the 12 beautiful puppies we took in just over a week ago contracted Parvo Virus and having had no inoculations, all but 3 have sadly passed away.

Hi all,
We have a couple of really poorly dogs in at the moment and are absolutely desperate for bedding. We would really appreciate it if you could have a dig around the back of your airing cupboard and sort out all of your old towels, sheets and blankets for us. If you have any bedding to spare please give us a call and we can put you in touch with your nearest foster home for drop off.
Many thanks
The EGLR team

Latest update from EGLR HQ |

Hi everybody (sorry it's a long one) haven't had tome to write one for such a long time, but felt I needed to keep you all up-to-date with all our goings on.
Where to start? Umm, in the middle I think. We have four greyhounds and pups, 12 weeks old, just come out of a barn where they have lived for 12 weeks, poor little mites. We have eight 8-week-old pups coming on Friday and one 6-week-old girlie and little Toby, male lurcher pup... so puppies all round!
Poor Primrose... I honestly could do serious time for the w***** who did this, I have never understood why people neglect and ill treat their animals and I never will, but so help me if I could have 5 minutes with Primrose's idiot owner...trust me, they would know what I think of animal cruelty.

We urgently need foster homes without cats or children. We have several un-assessed dogs in kennels at present. Having them in kennels is not only costing us money, the dogs always do so much better in homes so please if you are able to offer a minimum 6 week foster placement please get in touch with Linda or I.
Things are very quiet on the rehoming front at the moment, we have some wonderful dogs but no interest in them. Pleas if you or someone you know is looking for a dog just pick up the phone and have a chat with us.
I understand that money is tight but anything you could afford to give us at the moment would be gratefully recieved no matter how big or small. We have more dogs needing our help than we have ever seen before in our entire 21 years, and we are seriously struggling to keep up with demand.
Many thanks

We have been very lucky with rehoming recently, even my beloved Ariel has found a loving new home where she is absolutely loving her new life. Thank you to everyone who donated money towards the operation she needed on her leg. We wouldn't have been able to do it without you.
On the flip side we have not been so lucky with the poorly dogs and September's Vet bill was £4250 (deep intake of breath!) so if you can make a donation no matter how small it would be very much appreciated. We know finances are tight and we do all we can to keep costs to a minimum. We are run entirely by volunteers and the majority of our food is kindly donated and we couldn't keep going without this support so thank you all. However, unfortunately it never ends and just as we get one dog mended and rehomed another comes through the door so your ongoing support is desperately needed.
