| Waitrose in Malvern helps EGLR |
|
This is just a quick line to let everyone know that as of this week and for the coming month, EGLR is one of 3 charities being supported in Waitrose, Malvern. The system in Waitrose is called Community Matters, and what happens is that every shopper gets given a token as they go through checkout. They then chose one of three nominated charities for the month and put their token into the perspex box by the door. At the end of the month, Waitrose weighs all these tokens and divides a donation of £1,000 between the three proportionally. It's proved very successful because the customer doesn't have to pay a penny of their own cash! It's a system Waitrose is committed to keep going, and they've found that customers who don't have a preference for any of the three usually put their token in the one with the least number.
It also means that for a whole month EGLR gets a high profile in a major store, since you can't walk out of the store without passing an A4 card with details on it in nice bold green letters! So if you know anyone who shops in the Malvern Waitrose, give them a ring and tell them where to put their tokens!!!!
