An urgent plea from Pip |
|
|
|
We urgently need foster homes without cats or children. We have several un-assessed dogs in kennels at present. Having them in kennels is not only costing us money, the dogs always do so much better in homes so please if you are able to offer a minimum 6 week foster placement please get in touch with Linda or I.
Things are very quiet on the rehoming front at the moment, we have some wonderful dogs but no interest in them. Pleas if you or someone you know is looking for a dog just pick up the phone and have a chat with us.
I understand that money is tight but anything you could afford to give us at the moment would be gratefully recieved no matter how big or small. We have more dogs needing our help than we have ever seen before in our entire 21 years, and we are seriously struggling to keep up with demand.
Many thanks

You may have noticed Norris on our dogs to adopt page, the poor lad, what b******s have done this to him?!? He is very thin, his top lip and part of his nose are missing, he is covered in horrific scarring and his leg is deformed from an old injury. Despite this he can't get enough loving, he has a superb temperament, he's docile, laid back and very easy going. Only his disability and horrific scarring are there to tell a tale most of us wouldn't want to hear. He might not look much but his heart and soul are loving loyal and sweet natured. He is just amazing when you think about what he must have been through
Need a laugh after reading that?!?

William |
|
|
William is settling down a bit and is fitting in well with my gang, he adores BB and follows her around the garden. He is getting braver by the day and is now running freely in the garden with the other dogs but unfortunately we still can't touch or stroke him without him panicking and getting himself in a terrible state. When you watch him in the garden from the window and he doesn't know you're there you would think he was a normal well adjusted dog, he plays, runs around the garden, interacts with the other dogs and is adorable to watch with his tail up and full of confidence. He is happy in his world with his routines and his confidence is slowly growing bless him. I except that William is a special boy who may never progress to being able to cope outside of my home, but if that is the case he will always have a place here with me.

We have been very lucky with rehoming recently, even my beloved Ariel has found a loving new home where she is absolutely loving her new life. Thank you to everyone who donated money towards the operation she needed on her leg. We wouldn't have been able to do it without you.
On the flip side we have not been so lucky with the poorly dogs and September's Vet bill was £4250 (deep intake of breath!) so if you can make a donation no matter how small it would be very much appreciated. We know finances are tight and we do all we can to keep costs to a minimum. We are run entirely by volunteers and the majority of our food is kindly donated and we couldn't keep going without this support so thank you all. However, unfortunately it never ends and just as we get one dog mended and rehomed another comes through the door so your ongoing support is desperately needed.

Another B***H of a week! |
|
|
|
Okay we have had a very busy manic few weeks. Luna came in with a broken wrist, Katie came in with mamory tumas, Suzie still kept bleeding when she shouldn't be, long after her season should have finished. Dougal the puppy came in with sarcoptic mange, really bad. We have also had a bitch in with bad teeth, a hermaphrodite (he/she) that has got to have an op next week, and so on and so on, our bank manager will be having a flying fit with the amount of money going out.
Food glorious food?!? not enough of i'm afraid particularly Butcher tripe mix (we have one dog that can only eat Butchers or it gets a bit messy!). We're worrying about what x-mas will bring if more of this this is what to expect, it's all a bit of a nightmare!
Fosterers you are amazing dont know how you do it. We got a very good response to our first newsletter (well done sophie). Please get those draw tickets in if you havent already every bit will help, and it's not too late to get in touch and get more draw tickets if you need some.
Golden oldies are definately this months must have! check them out on the dogs to adopt section of the website, i'm sure you could find space for one or two, and they so deserve permanent homes.
But seriously please try and help us any way you can, every little helps.
On a happier note we would like to say a huge congratulations to John and Debra, and their EGLR dogs Millie and Gracie. Millie and Gracie were the first ever lurchers to enter the Grand Prix finals at East Midlands Agility Club and Both dogs and owners did amazingly well, Gracie even finished 7th in the primary agility finals - well done all! |

Dear All
Sad news, Kerri and Brian our brilliant webmasters are leaving us for pastures new. They have an amazing opportunity to move to the Falklands for a better quality of life. If i was selfish I don't want them to go, but for all the years I've known them, this is a dream they have so wished to follow. I will miss them and their dogs, but do realise it is such an amazing chance of a new life for them. They have not only been brilliant fosterers, volunteers, fundraisers, supporters and webmasters but most importantly for me, wonderful friends who I hold very dear to my heart. However the really good news is that they have very kindly agreed to carry on being our webmasters, Yippee, THANK YOU. I'm sure you all want to wish them all the love and luck in the world. They deserve it. GOOD LUCK and please keep in touch.

Everyone at EGLR would like to say a huge congratulations to Ade & Cheryl who are getting married today (8th August). Ade & Cheryl have had 2 dogs from us over the years and have asked that all of their guests give a donation to EGLR rather than bring gifts to their wedding.
We are absolutely thrilled for them and wish them the very best of luck for their future together and hope they have a wonderful wedding day. |
