Hello everyone, not sure if you remember me but my name is Ariel.
Many of you kindly donated money to cover the cost of my veterinary treatment when I had to have the plate put in my leg. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart, you really have saved me. In return I would like to tell you about my new forever home.
At the end of September 2009 some lovely people spoke to Auntie Pip about giving me a home. They came to see me and as usual I acted rather coy and when out in the garden just laid down or sat on Auntie Pip’s lap! She found it quite hard to make those people understand that it was me that had dug up her grass, stolen all those DVD boxes and generally acted like a clown.
Well they stayed quite a while that day and brought their 2 other dogs with them, they really wanted to play but I just couldn’t let myself go. We went out for a little walk up the road, which was good. Anyway we went back inside and the grownups had a cuppa and I cuddled up on the sofa with my prospective new Dad. Auntie Pip was really pleased as that was a step in the right direction. They came back the following week and took me out for a walk again. Auntie Pip was so pleased with me that she said I could go home with them and as they say, the rest is history!
I now have all the love and attention from my new Mum and Dad that a girl could ever want. They also have 2 other EGLR dogs – Polo (known to them as Cordelia, but Mum couldn’t see herself calling that in the park, she is nearly 9 years old now), and April who is 5ish (some of you might also remember her, as she had a bad start in life too).
I get 2 walks a day, one very early before Mum goes to work although that is not my favourite as it is dark and I still worry a little about being out in the dark. Then later in the morning Dad takes us to the park where we sometimes meet 2 other ladies who have greyhounds. That is good fun although I am still not allowed off the lead as I still find some things too spooky. The rest of my day is spent either sleeping or playing with my toys. My favourite toys are the soft teddy and the duck. Mum has to keep sewing up the teddy and he now has no face – what am I like!
My new Mum and Dad have a narrowboat and soon after I went to live with them we went on holiday. It was really good fun, with lots of walks along the towpath and in the evenings it was nice and toasty sleeping by the stove! We also go to check the boat out every couple of weeks, it’s fab as I get a nice trip in the car – I love going in the car. There are lots of nice fields to walk in where they keep the boat and sometimes we meet Jackie and her boxer dog.
I have attached lots of pictures to show you what fun I am having. Thanks to you all, you have enabled me to have such a good life in my forever home...
Love ya loads, licks and kisses
