Fund Riasing Evening

EGLRposter-1Time is ticking by very quickly - only three weeks until we hold this event to raise as much as we can for this very worthy cause. Many of you have shown interest on Facebook for this event and several people have reserved tickets. However, I really do need people to commit, pay and collect their tickets as soon as they possibly can and definitely by the 17th April as the food has to be ordered. Please call me on 07720-373446 to make arrangements for payment and collection. I am also at Serendipity, Saintbridge R.F.C., Painswick Road, Gloucester, GL4 4QX every Tuesday evening from 6.45pm. Tickets can also be purchased from Pheonix Realm, Gloucester or Mercury Moon Gifts, Evesham (see poster for details) if this is more convenient. As you will appreciate a lot of time and effort has been taken to organise this event and it would be a great shame if it did not go ahead. People have donated their time to make this event a success and we have had some wonderful donations for raffle prizes.

A Lovelly Story

PollyPolly, pictured here, was adopted from EGLR in 2012 & we have just received this wonderful message from her Dad, Richard:-

As a great admirer of EGLR I have thought of an unusual way of lending support. I am a widower and in October I met a wonderful lady called Vanessa and we are to be married on the 20th of June, 2015. Instead of having presents we have asked for a donation to one of five charities including, of course EGLR . All food etc is provided along with a free bar so we really hope that we can gather some great donations. We are both delighted to be able to lend our support to such an excellent rescue and of course POLLY our saluki greyhound cross thoroughly approves!

On behalf of EGLR we would like to thank Richard & Vanessa so very much & wish them all the very best for a wonderful day on 20th June.

EGLR 2016 Calendar competition

EGLR will once again be producing a calendar this year for 2016 so we are inviting you to submit your pictures for consideration for inclusion in the calendar that we will be selling later in the year. All the details are on a special facebook page that can be accessed by clicking HERE

A selection of photographs will be chosen after the closing date of May 31st 2015 to appear in our 2016 calendar which will be sold to raise money for the dogs in our care.

Entry is £1.50 per photograph and there is no limit to the number of entries you can make. To enter your photograph please upload your images to the facebook page along with your Paypal confirmation reference.

Winners will be notified by mid June and may be required to submit a short story about their dog to appear alongside the calendar images.

Good Luck.

Fantastic news about Eddie

EddieWe are delighted to let you know that through your incredidle generosity we have received enough money for Eddie to have his operation which he had this about a week ago and is pictured here on the way to recovery. He is getting stronger every day. He can now walk with ease, sit and lie down without any problems. His stitches will come out next Wednesday and then he will need x-rays in 4 weeks.

We can not thank you enough for your support with Eddie's operation as without it we simply would not have been able to afford to have it done.

A Fundraising Climb

Snowdon A great supporter of EGLR Caron Reeves is planning a fundraising walk up Mount Snowdon in June and we would like to wish her the best of luck and also like you to support her in her endevours. She will be supported on her walk with her rescue lurcher Slim who is with her in the photo here. We asked Caron about her walk and the reasons she is doing it to raise funds for EGLR and this is what she had to say:-

I will be walking up Mount Snowdon in Wales on Saturday 27th June this year to raise much needed funds for EGLR and I am looking for supporters to help me raise much needed funds.

I have done hill walking before, but no mountain walking, simply because I have a fear of heights. This will mean I will be presented with personal challenges along my route, but knowing I am raising funds for EGLR will keep me going. For all the folk who know and have walked up Snowdon I will be walking up the Pyg Track and coming down the Miner's Track.

Slim, our rescued Lurcher pictured in the photo with me will be participating in the fundraising from the comfort of the settee!. He is 12 years of age and likes the slower pace of life nowadays.

I live on the most northerly island on the Shetland Islands and must be the most Northerly supporter of EGLR in the UK.

I am also doing the fundraising walk up Mount Snowdon in memory of our Otis who we adopted from EGLR and brought up to Shetland to live with us all. Sadly Otis developed Osteosarcoma and had to have his front leg and shoulder amputated. He made a remarkable recovery as a Tripawd and lived life to to the full on his three legs. Sadly however the cancer returned, this time to his lungs and we had to make the extremely hard decision to let him go.

Please support me and help raise funds for EGLR so they can continue to look after Mr Moon, Eddie, Scarlet, Dixie to name just a few of the many hounds in their care and find their forever homes.

You can donate via my fundraising page by clicking here

Thank you Caron for your support.
