We would like to thank everyone who has sent a donation and well-wishes to Scruffy, and for everyone that has offered this lad a forever home - thank you... but as Scruffy is both emotionally and physically damaged we are not yet sure what home environment will be best for him, so we are waiting for both his physical and mental scars to heal before he will be offered for re-homing. We will keep you all updated on his progress, and, as soon as we feel he is ready, we will let you know.

Unfortunately Scruffy had to undergo more surgery when he had to have his right ear amputated.

It had lost its blood supply and died but the vet managed to save a large part of the left ear. He had to remove some dead tissue, the good news is that the infection is under control and the other wounds are much cleaner.
He still needs lifting in and out of the car on his regular vet visits, as much of his body is covered in scabs and bruises. He is much happier since his operation, but still has a very long way to go.

We would like to thank Burns Pet Nutrition, who have offered to supply Scruffy with his food whilst he is in rescue. Happily he will have a good diet that may aid his recovery.

29th September 2008

Scruffy is progressing very well, his ears have healed over and he is starting to grow some of his shaved hair back ready for the winter months. The wound on his neck is slowly getting better but still has a little way to go and we are hoping in the next couple of weeks it will be completely healed. Scruffy's weight is almost back to normal but he still enjoy lots of small but regular meals.

Scruffy's physical wounds are healing well but his mental scars are taking a lot longer, he is still very nervous of new people and situations but he now trusts his foster mom. It will take time and understanding to help him trust other people.

Scruffy has started to have some off lead exercise in the garden and enjoys a good run round and is starting to play with some of the other dogs in the foster home. This is real progress and his foster mom is so glad to see him starting to enjoy life.

20th September 2008  *NEW*

Fabulous News, Scruffy has now settled into his new home and is very happy with his new family.

We would like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who has set contributions to help pay for his care, we could not do it without your help.
