SCRUFFY

This is Scruffy who has come into rescue in a terrible state. As you can see from the pictures, he has suffered horrific neck injuries and has also sustained horrendous injuries to his ears - both of them completely ripped and both have haematomas in them.

All of these injuries are having to be cleaned twice a day to keep infection at bay, the wounds are being kept open to help with the healing, he is on painkillers and high dose antibiotics to ensure infection doesn’t get in. Not only does this lad have terrible injuries, under that scruffy matted coat is a dog that is just skin and bone. The vet was appalled by his thin condition and surprised that he was still standing, Scruffy is also completely shut down - he is petrified of people and will avoid them at all cost. He has shut down to the whole world and we don’t think he cares if he lives or dies - just going through the motion of existing.

Scruffy is only about 5 years yet his body has been ravaged and his spirit has gone. We are hoping that his body will heal and that we can show him that life is worth living and he can once again see the wonder of life and start to have fun again. When his injuries have healed, Scruffy will need to see a professional groomer as his coat is matted with mud and God knows what else. We hope that this will complete his transition into a new dog but sadly this is a very long way away. Scruffy is going to need regular vet treatment and lots of good food and a huge amount of love from his foster home. With this, we hope to restore his faith in humans.

Fabulous News, Scruffy has now been rehomed and has settled into his new home and is very happy with his new family.
