PRINCE ASLAN
Prince Aslan (named after the heroic and courageous lion from the book 'The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe' written
by CS Lewis) is also a gorgeous, rich-red colour. He has been through so much already that we think he deserves a name
to match his strength of character and help him through the next few weeks.
Aslan was found in an unexplainable place - on the roof of a first floor building, his cries heard by a neighbour. When he got
to the vets, it was found that he was suffering with multiple injuries. The main injury is to his front leg, an open fracture
which must have been horrendously painful. He was also suffering from a collapsed lung and an injury to his ear. The vet also
had to battle against the fact he was completely emaciated. Things were not looking good for this lad and noone was sure if he
could or would survive. But Aslan has shown a strong will to live - during his time in the vets, his lung collapsed several
times and had to be closely monitored. He was also given a chest drain to resolve this problem.
There is a very big question mark over if his leg can be saved as the break was an open fracture and because of this, there is
a high risk of infection. We are also unsure if the break can be mended at the moment. It is in a splint and being closely
monitored by the vet to ensure that it is healing correctly. We won't know for a week or so if this is going to be successful
but the good news is that his lung seems to be better and he is slowly gaining weight.
Through all of this, Aslan has shown great spirit and bravery, has a good appetite and loves to have lots of fuss and kisses.
At the moment, his movement is very restricted as we are trying to keep him as still as possible to improve the chances of his
leg healing. Aslan has a very long road to recovery and things are still uncertain but we can guarantee that he will get the
very best treatment and all the love and affection that he wants. We'll continue to keep you updated on his condition.
